Weekly Devlog: 6 of 16
Greeting all, as it is an even number week, it's Kaiden here for today's devlog! Today's log will be brief, but we'll be updating you on what we're working on.
Beta Build
As you might've seen, we put out a new build for the game, which you can find down below. As a reminder, we've put out a form for feedback, so do give it a look if you can: (https://forms.gle/F4u64fTpfntrFEX57) We're overall very happy with the build and how it plays, and we're already starting work on the next major additions.
New Additions
Over the last couple of weeks, Tyro has been drafting animations and has been working with a friend on those. From hereon out, the enemies will be fully animated to shoot, reload and explode when destroyed. Given the strong foundation we have for the game so far, we've been working to improve the game's visuals and responsiveness -- seeing your enemies move and react now will be a much needed change!
We've also been working to improve the user interface across menus and levels. I've been drafting numerous sketches for a new main menu, level menus, start/end screens and the like. Tyro has also been working on implementing proper screen transitions and a start/end level transition, that way you can get into levels smoother rather than just plopping you into the scene immediately.
One last change comes to the camera shake. The shake would sometimes go on a little excessively, or cease to work at certain angles, so we've been going back and forth with our professor on ways to fix it. As it stands, the previous build's camera shake effect works fine, but we'd like to finetune it to make it just right.
