Weekly Devlog: Week 13 of 16
Hey guys! Sorry about posting late this week, I've been super busy with other projects at the same time as this one.
There's nothing particularly huge, but I should mention what we're planning on adding so that there's something to look forward too, and of course I will show this week's progress.
What we've got:
Kaiden mentioned we have explosive barrels last week, and now this week, I'm happy to mention we now have explosive landmines as well as sawblades! Sawblades launch the player in the direction they spin, while landmines detonate and launch you across the screen should you wander too close. These 3 additions alone will be huge for the overall level design of the game, but it will only keep going deeper from here.
What we've got planned:
Moving platforms! 1-way platforms! DOORS! YES, that's right: Dynamic platforming, AT LAST! All of the mechanics we have in the game so far are mechanics we felt the game NEEDED to get functional and in a fun, relatively playable state. NOW, we are adding the mechanics we WANT. One of the biggest issues with the level design is the simplicity of it's direction; Due to the nature of a simple tile-map, you can't make pathways intersect each other but still somewhat limit the direction of the player's path through a level. Now we can create these more complex, inter-woven level designs that make the game feel more fluid! The only problem: I now have to program them.
Get GyroGun
